California’s 27th Congressional District

Joe Biden carried this district in 2020 by more than 13 points and Democrats have a substantial edge here in party registration. But GOP incumbent Mike Garcia won in 2022 in a mid-term election where many voters stayed home. A majority of eligible voters in the district are Latino, Black, and Asian, but tens of thousands of them aren’t registered. Strong voter turnout is essential to win in CA-27 this year and elect Democratic challenger George Whitesides.

People’s House recommends that donors support Battleground California, an unprecedented collaboration between progressive groups to mobilize voters in key California districts to help flip the House — including CA-27. Groups behind this push include Courage California, Communities for a New California, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California VOTES, CHIRLA Action Fund, and the Working Families Party.
